Knotwell does not guarantee sales, income, royalties, or enforceability of user-supplied custom terms. Creators are responsible for confirming that they own or have permission to publish every asset.
This Creator Agreement governs your relationship with Knotwell when you publish. It sets the eligibility rules, the warranties you make about what you publish, the license you grant buyers, and how the share engine walks the chain on every sale.
Eligibility
To publish on Knotwell you must hold an active Knotwell account and complete Creator Beta onboarding. Knotwell is open to every creator on its own merits; entry is independent of any partner program.
Your uploaded content
By uploading an asset, you represent and warrant that:
- You own the asset, or you have permission to license it under the tier you selected.
- The asset does not infringe any third-party copyright, trademark, or trade secret.
- The asset does not contain malware, prompt-injection payloads, or content designed to harm a buyer’s system.
- If the asset is a derivative work, the upstream license terms permit the distribution you’re offering.
The license you grant
For every asset you publish, you grant each buyer the license tier they select at checkout — personal, commercial, or extended — exactly as Knotwell surfaces in the asset record. You also grant Knotwell a limited, non-exclusive license to host, display, and transmit the asset (and any composite that includes it) to process the sale and route payouts.
The license you grant is the license you chose. Knotwell does not amend your tier on your behalf, and Knotwell does not enforce custom per-buyer terms you write in the “terms” text box unless those terms are reflected in the asset record.
Share mechanics
Each asset carries a share you set when you published it — the percentage of every sale of a downstream composite that flows back to you as the upstream contributor. You can change the share going forward at any time from your dashboard; the new share applies to sales initiated after the change.
Knotwell processes the share engine on every checkout transaction. The walk is public and reproducible — every buyer sees the chain of who gets paid, including the share for each link.
Income — what we promise and don’t
Knotwell does not guarantee sales, income, royalties, or enforceability of user-supplied custom terms. Creators are responsible for confirming that they own or have permission to publish every asset.
Knotwell commits to: walk the upstream chain on every sale, route the share you set, and pay you the amount we routed (less fees and refunds). Knotwell does not commit to a minimum sale volume, a minimum payout, or any specific income trajectory.
Termination
You may unpublish an asset at any time. Unpublishing stops new sales but does not refund completed sales and does not retroactively un-license copies already delivered to a buyer.
Knotwell may suspend your publishing privileges if you materially breach this Creator Agreement or the Site Terms, or if keeping your account active would expose Knotwell or other creators to legal or security risk.
Changes
We may update this agreement. Material changes will be announced by email or in-product with at least 14 days’ notice. Continued publishing after a material change means you accept the new terms.
